This means so much coming from you - walking with your step-mom through her fight against Stage 4 breast cancer, running for the cure, being there for me - you have helped me and so many others. The only people who can truly help others are those who have had to fight the battle themselves. You, with your words, can move mountains! It doesn't hide the reality of this disease and may be too graphic for some. But it also shows the gift that cancer has been to me, in the short time I have fought it.
I wonder, now, after having experienced all of the love and support from friends and family, whether I would wish this had never happened? Few people really know what their life means to others and just how much they are loved. This outpouring is something I would have never experienced without getting breast cancer...

Here’s what some other people have said:

Courtney: “You are always in my thoughts and prayers, Doris. You are incredibly brave for posting during this whole process, and have brought more than one tear to my eye. You’re a truly beautiful woman, and incredibly strong. Praying for healing!"

Corlann: “Powerfully written Doris! You are inspirational and encouraging and God is using you through all this. I’ve been meaning to tell you since before your surgery that my family is praying for you. Especially my seven-year-old son, who prays for you twice a day, at family devotions. You are loved and lifted up.

Chuck: “Wow! Completely overwhelming. Even these words cannot portray the emotions that come with reading this.”

Lynn: “I read your blog yesterday and thought it was truly fantastic. It may be the toughest one you've ever written, but your honesty and connection came through clearly to the reader (aka me!), so I think it was also the best one you've written (so far!) The photos from the scar project were great too.”

Don: “Awesome blog Doris; I love your style of writing. It makes me think that I should write my own story as well. I am also a survivor as you know. Cancer is life changing, that’s for sure.”

Alison: “I got emotional at the husband doing the dishes part. How the sorrow and worry is part of our loved ones experience also.”

Sandy: “Wow, another powerful blog! Your writing is very inspiring.”Doris Fleckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02687264337708097523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5025388200906957405.post-57673535428648031062012-04-22T10:06:31.158-06:002012-04-22T10:06:31.158-06:00Wow!
